George pledges to support British Legion campaign
Local MP, Andrew George, has pledged to ‘do his bit’ for the British Armed Forces and is supporting the Royal British Legion’s campaign, ahead of his second visit to Afghanistan later this week.
Mr George has joined the ‘Time to Do Your Bit’ campaign which is encouraging MPs to do all they can to improve conditions for Service Personnel and their families, the bereaved, veterans and dependants. Mr George is also supporting other veterans organisations like ‘Combat Stress’ which aids those discharged service personnel who have experienced severe Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and other mental health problems following their experiences.
“This is an important campaign and I congratulate the Royal British Legion," said Mr George. "They have an important role to play in highlighting the needs of the whole armed forces family. I am pleased to be given an opportunity to pledge to ‘do my bit’ and would encourage others to visit the campaign website –
www.timetodoyourbit.org.uk – where everyone can find out how they can get involved in the campaign”.
Kevin Shinkwin, the Legion’s Head of Public Affairs, said: “We’re really grateful to Andrew George for pledging to do his bit. The entire Armed Forces family needs the support of politicians from all parties and our manifesto outlines practical ways the next Government can help. We hope all the parties will give it serious consideration and that they will pledge to do their bit”.
